FIREFORCE rose from the ashes of the Belgian metal band Double Diamond in autumn 2008. Within a short time they earned an excellent reputation for live performances and record labels began taking interest in the talented Belgians thanks to their EP "Moonlight Lady", released in Spring 2009. This was followed in 2011 by their debut album "March On", which was released all over Europe and which raised the band from underground status to new heights. Their tight, driving Heavy Metal with clear leanings towards Power Metal did not, however, overlook pleasant harmonic, melodic components. On the live scene, the Belgians stood on a solid base and underlined the excellent quality of their album with impressive gigs and tours. Now, in 2014, the long-awaited successor - entitled "Deathbringer" - is to be released. It shows that FIREFORCE is not resting on its laurels but are progressing in every aspect of their genre. The album is alive with fists full of riff structures, galloping drums and vocals in the true metal style. "Deathbringer" is a crisp, well structured Heavy Metal album with a heavy breath of old-school style but with a voluminous, modern production which serves to kick the songs yet further forwards.

"Deathbringer" is an absolutely pure Heavy Metal album with thirteen ass-kicking songs all comprising of stunning riffs, hammering drums and rounded off with neck-breaking rhythms. It's an album, which gets the adrenaline rushing, with a passion manifested in every second of the music.
It is crowned by powerful, energetic vocals, which give the songs a slightly rough, NWOBHM-like touch. Notable in this aspect is the great cover version of the Tygers Of Pan Tang classic "Gangland", in which singer Filip "Flype” Lemmens comes very close to the original. And we still haven't mentioned the swelteringly brilliant guitar playing. The racing beginning of "Combat Metal" reminds one of Sabaton without any fiddly keyboards, whilst "Thunder Will Roll" holds several parallels to Mystic Prophecy in its clouds. It's a real thumper with enormous tempo and is definitely one of the album's highlights. The somewhat hymn-like configuration of "To The Battle" continues at speed and is one to listen out for when played live. Not one single track of the thirteen songs leaves unfulfilled wishes of the most ardent metal heart and so there is no question that "Deathbringer" is a more than worthy successor to its highly praised predecessor. True- and old school metalheads will be enthralled from the first to the last, that is the true verdict.

Les petits gars ont trouvé leur voie, mais ont encore cette agilité dans le style qui fait la richesse de cet album : allez comparer Enhammered et Ebon Star, ces chansons n'ont rien à voir, et pourtant on trouve la même patte dans la musique. Ils ont le feu ! joH1

Bon, même si c'est un peu cliché à dire, ce deuxième album est plus mature et recherché que le premier, totalement concentré sur ce style de heavy qui leur est propre, et un peu moins kitsch, mais avec quelques soupçons d'épique par-ci par-là (notamment Godbreaker) On en vient juste à regretter l'indisponibilité des paroles qui empêche de savourer intégralement la musique. joH1
